What I saw at the World Dairy Expo in Madison Wisconsin.

The first week in October is the World Dairy Expo in Madison Wisconsin. This is a great way to see all of the new and different things that the industry has to offer. For me, it is a chance to meet with old friend and meet new ones. The 80º temperatures made this year feel like a vacation. The companies shown here are in no particular order.

These girls had the attention of many of the men at the show. The girl on the right was handing out bags to promote Calfology. She was the tall leggy blond with the short green checkered skirt. Calfology is a site designed by veterinarians to promote calf health and care. This would be a great site to inform your local school about.

Boumatic has reinvented the pulsator. The new design is extremely easy to take apart and put back together. It has a quick connect for the electric. Easy and simple.

The Insentec Astrea Automatic Milking Robot can milk 120 cows with one arm. That's twice what other robotic milkers can do. The technology is the same that is used and has been used for many years in the auto industry. You can get off shelf parts for this unit. They are new in the US (lots of units in other countries). They are currently looking for dealers.

I stopped by the Dairymaster booth and spoke with Dale and Lynn. I asked them "What's New?" and they talked my ear off about their CleanSweep Feed Scrapper and Manuer Scrapper. The track system is different from others offered in the industry. If you want to know more I am sure that they would love to tell you.

MSA Professional Services does a great deal of planning and design. I found the Bio-Methatech part of their business to be very interesting. They install integrated anaerobic digestors. They also work with all of the regulation that is required to have one of these units.

The DeLaval ARM is the new robotic milker for the rotary. This product is installed in a couple of barns overseas, but none here in the US or Canada. I spoke with a gentleman from DeLaval who told me that dealerships will need to have a high tech staff to be able to support this new technology. DeLaval.com
